The Assurant Foundation has donated $125,000 USD to a newly formed campaign run by local Crewe charity Always Ahead to transform the locally listed art-deco Flag Lane Swimming Baths into a vibrant community resource. When complete, the renewed facility will provide a valuable amenity for the people of Crewe with an array of resources, while also preserving the heritage of the building and keeping alive the memories of many generations of Crewe residents. The Assurant Foundation is the charitable arm of Assurant through which charitable donations and employee volunteers are provided.

The donation was presented to Pastor David Edwards of Always Ahead by Alan Colberg, president and CEO, Assurant, at Assurant’s Crewe office.

As one of the largest employers in Crewe, Assurant’s donation to the Flag Bath Lanes project reinforces its commitment to local communities. The company is encouraging others in the local community to join the Always Ahead campaign to help restore a real asset for the future.

“Giving back to the communities where we live and work is an important commitment for Assurant. Worldwide we help people protect what matters most and strive to strengthen the communities where we live and work,” said Colberg.

Pastor David Edwards adds: "We are so grateful to organisations like Assurant, who are supporting the regeneration of this community space to provide a bright, safe and inviting environment for today and years to come. Not only has Assurant kick-started our fundraising campaign with this significant pledge, but the team is also volunteering and sharing their skill base with us.”

In addition to the pledge to the campaign, the Assurant Foundation has allocated a further fund of $25,000 USD, to support local Crewe Assurant employee fundraising initiatives over the coming months. This will allow for 1:1 matches by the Assurant Foundation of funds donated through employee-focused events.
