The Georgia State University Risk Management Foundation, Inc., recently presented Mike Anderson, chief operating officer of Assurant Solutions, its Icon Leadership Award for innovation in risk management. Anderson received the honor at the inaugural presentation of ‘The Riskies’ Risk Science and Insurance Leadership Awards held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
“The Icon Leadership Award recognizes those risk and insurance industry leaders who exemplify the professional and business knowledge principles envisioned by the Risk Management and Insurance Department at Georgia State University,” said Richard Phillips, dean of the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University and the C.V. Starr professor of risk management and insurance. “We’re pleased to recognize Mr. Anderson as the first recipient of this prestigious award.”
Anderson oversees risk management for Assurant Solutions’ global businesses, which span 24 locations and 13 countries. During his tenure with the company, Anderson established and developed the first dedicated risk management group for its vehicle service contract business in 2000 and later for its international operations. Since that time, Anderson has been at the forefront of adapting best practices and risk management methodologies to match changes in consumer behavior, Assurant Solutions’ product mix and global footprint expansion.
