Supporting the communities where we live and work, especially when a crisis strikes, is core to who we are and how we operate at Assurant.

Catastrophic flooding has claimed the lives of people in Western Europe, forced tens of thousands of people from their homes, and cut off vital water and power. Germany has been the hardest hit, and the “once-in-a-century” flooding has spread across Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

With aid arriving in the disaster area, volunteers and the military have been mobilised to help. Still, there are needs for facilities, supplies and assistance that require a larger effort. People, especially those in Germany’s westernmost states, need care, emergency shelter, medical resources and essential necessities.

On behalf of Assurant and our employees, clients and customers in Germany and throughout Europe, the Assurant Foundation is providing a total of US$25,000 in grant support to Aktion Deutschland Hilft to aid in their disaster relief efforts. Aktion Deutschland Hilft is an association of German aid organisations for disaster relief that join forces to provide faster and more effective help and to jointly raise funds in the event of a disaster.

The Assurant Foundation is the charitable arm of Assurant, Inc. (NYSE: AIZ) through which donations are provided.

In addition to the donation from the Assurant Foundation, a month-long Germany Flood Relief 2:1 Assurant employee matching gift opportunity is available to Assurant employees so that employees can support Aktion Deutschland Hilft in their emergency response.

We encourage others to join us in providing disaster relief aid in Germany. Donations can be made here: https://www.aktion-deutschland-hilft.de/en/donate/donate/
