Major dealer group Lookers has extended the availability of RAC-branded warranties across all of its franchises.
Assurant, the RAC’s partner in the warranty sector, has a longstanding relationship with the dealer group and previously supplied the product, branded The Lookers RAC Warranty, to two of their franchise divisions. This has now been extended to all divisions, including the Northern Ireland-based Charles Hurst business.
The exact warranty offered differs depending on the franchise and vehicle but includes a maintenance and repair plan alongside RAC breakdown cover including At Home, Roadside assistance and National Recovery. It can be applied to any car, van or motorbike for periods from 1-48 months.
Sean Kent, European director of automotive at Assurant, said: “As first The Warranty Group and now Assurant, we’ve been working with Lookers for around 15 years, satisfying their need for an extended warranty offering across different franchises.
“It’s a relationship that we have worked hard at developing and, a couple of years ago, moved some of their franchise divisions onto our RAC branded warranty. This has been so successful that their other franchises have now followed.
“A key point is that we have put substantial effort into ensuring that they have the right product supported by high quality data, as well as online training, tests and modules. We’re also actively looking at how the warranties may need to be developed in the medium term, with new provisions possible for connected cars and electric vehicles (EVs).”
